Emirati among three injured in Sweihan Street incident
ABU DHABI – Authorities in the UAE capital have confirmed an incident after debris from a successfully intercepted missile fell in a populated area, leaving two people dead and three others injured.
The incident occurred on Sweihan Street on Thursday, where multiple vehicles were also damaged. Emergency services responded swiftly, while authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office later confirmed that the two individuals killed were of Pakistani and Indian nationality.

The three injured include individuals of Emirati, Jordanian and Indian nationality, with injuries ranging from serious to moderate.
Sweihan incident
Officials said the debris resulted from a ballistic missile intercepted by UAE air defence systems. The falling fragments struck vehicles and caused casualties on the ground, marking one of the most serious civilian impacts linked to recent aerial threats. Authorities secured the area and provided immediate medical assistance to those injured.

Air defence interceptions
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that UAE air defence systems intercepted incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran on Thursday morning. Authorities said the situation remains under close monitoring.
Yesterday, air defences engaged nine UAVs launched towards the UAE. Since February 28, defence systems have intercepted 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,815 UAVs targeting the country.
Casualties
The latest incident brings the total number of deaths linked to the attacks to 11, including both military personnel and civilians. Three members of the UAE Armed Forces have been killed in the line of duty, while six foreign nationals – including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian citizens – died in earlier incidents involving missile and UAV debris.
A total of 166 people have been injured so far, with cases ranging from minor to critical across multiple nationalities. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely, reiterating that official updates remain the most reliable source of information.
